Brighter and more sustainable future for WA schools

Schools across metro and regional WA are installing solar panels, virtual power plants, and LED lights to reduce their environmental impact and energy costs.

The Solar Schools Program also raises awareness and educates students on renewables and how they are shaping our brighter, clean energy future.

Stimulate local economy for stronger communities

The energy infrastructure upgrades and solar panel installations will boost the local economy through jobs and procurement opportunities.

Projects in regional areas support the employment of locally based workers, including a commitment to Aboriginal employment.

How Broome Senior High School is benefiting from solar power

Broome Senior High School has installed the largest rooftop solar system of any regional school in WA under the Solar Schools Program.

499 solar panels have been installed, estimated to save the school around $350,000 in electricity costs each year.

The installation provides a web-based application allowing for real time monitoring. This means students can engage with the technology and link this to their learning in the classroom.
